Happy Holidays from CENTURY 21 AAA North!
We love this time of year. Tinsel, Christmas trees, mistletoe… turkeys, figs and pumpkin pie, does it get any better? We’re not sure it does… but what if it could? What if you were able to sell the house during the holidays? You might be thinking, “That would be nothing short of miserable between school vacations, visits from family, and seasonal celebrations!” But if I told you I had concrete reasons you could really benefit from selling your house this holiday season, what would you say? Surely you’d ask me how.
Because most home sellers wait out the season until the New Year, you could be put at a huge advantage by selling. Not only that, but if buyers are scheduling showings during all the hustle and bustle, it’s clear that they must be interested!
So don’t be afraid to put up that “For Sale” sign to complement your holiday lights, and hear us out with the following advice:
Deck the halls…
With boughs of holly, and trim the home with lights! Be festive! Decorating will welcome buyers. It’s always better to sell during the holidays with a little bit of cheer. When your home looks great and you take pride in it, it will only show better and you will likely get more for it in the end.
…but don’t overdo it
Make sure you don’t go overboard with the decorations. Christmas lights and a tree in the living room are more than acceptable, but it might not be the best plan to stage a giant nativity scene on the front lawn. You want the house to look nice, maybe even classy. But going crazy with the decorations could scare off potential buyers, and, well, everyone else too!
Have a party!
Yes, we understand that there is so much to do and so little time, but throw a holiday party anyway. You can show off your house to your friends, family, and neighbors, and chances are they or someone they know is looking for a house. Networking has never been a bad idea.
Lighten it up
The days are darker and shorter, so control what you can control, but make sure the lighting in your house is presentable. Replace the bulbs and make them a bit brighter to let your house shine.
Give more time
|‘Tis the season for giving. So give a little bit more of your most precious resource – your time. Not everyone celebrates the same holiday as you, so be prepared, and be willing, to make time for those who may want to see your home at a time that isn’t convenient for you.|
Bad weather can be a good thing
Use the imminent bad weather as an opportunity to have your driveway and walkways shoveled/snow blown. Show the buyers that you take pride in keeping your home available and approachable to those willing to make the drive to come see it.
Have a holly jolly holiday!
It is never a bad time to sell. No matter what is happening, there is always a way to use your current circumstances to your advantage. You and your CENTURY 21 AAA North agent will always be able to work together to get it sold! But for now, relax, have a glass of eggnog, and be sure to have a very happy holiday!
